WestJet CEO: 737 MAX 7 aircraft is 'great for long, thin markets'

13 February, 2018

WestJet CEO Gregg Saretsky stated the carrier loves the Boeing 737 MAX 7 aircraft, noting the aircraft is "great for long, thin markets" (Bloomberg, 12-Feb-2018). According to the CAPA Fleet Database, the carrier has 23 737 MAX 7, 16 737 MAX 8 and 10 787-9 aircraft on order. Mr Saretsky anticipates the 737 MAX 7, alongside two other larger 737 variants, will increase capacity and decrease fuel consumption, saving up to USD160 million p/a over the next five years.
