A4ANZ chairman: Australian airport monopolies 'an absolute reality'

12 September, 2018

Airlines for Australia and New Zealand (A4ANZ) chairman Professor Graeme Samuel stated it is "an absolute reality" that Australia's major and second tier airports are "all monopolies" (3AW, 12-Sep-2018). Airports report a profit of AUD27 (USD19.18) per vehicle at carparks, "the most profitable in the world" by international comparison, according to Professor Samuel. He argues arbitration is required by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission through price monitoring mechanisms to resolve the issue.
