ACCC grants interim authorisation to Virgin Australia and Alliance Airlines cooperation

Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) granted (19-Nov-2020) interim authorisation in respect of the application for authorisation lodged by Virgin Australia and Alliance Airlines on 23-Oct-2020, protecting the authorisation from legal consequences while the ACCC considers and evaluates the application. Interim authorisation enables Virgin Australia and Alliance Airlines to cooperate on the 41 regional routes and two short haul international services identified on their application. ACCC will release a draft determination which will take account of any further submissions from the applicants and interested parties, and will indicate the ACCC’s preliminary views on the merits of the application.
