Air Astana reconverting one Boeing 767 to passenger aircraft

25 August, 2021

Air Astana CEO Peter Foster reported the airline commenced works to reconfigure one Boeing 767-300 to resume passenger services and expects to complete the works by the end of Aug-2021 (Simple Flying, 24-Aug-2021). Mr Foster noted Air Astana temporarily removed passenger seats from the 767 in May-2020 due to decreased passenger travel demand and increased cargo demand following the outbreak of COVID-19. He explained: "It performed extremely well for those 15 months in its semi freighter configuration... It operated close to 300 cargo charter flights", adding: "we took the decision some weeks ago to convert it back to a passenger aircraft because 767 demand is very substantial".
