AirAsia Group sees ‘overwhelming demand’ for domestic leisure destinations

AirAsia Group announced (23-Sep-2021) it is geared up to fully restore its domestic and international services spurred by “the success of the Langkawi travel bubble and the vaccination rate of adults in Malaysia reaching 90%”. The carrier recorded overwhelming demand across Asian domestic leisure destinations that have reopened recently including Boracay, Cebu, Bohol, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Hat Yai. It added load factors for these destinations have ranged between 80% to 90% with more frequencies and routes to be added soon in line with “consistently strong forward bookings”.  AirAsia Group president (airlines) Bo Lingam stated: “For Langkawi alone, AirAsia Malaysia has sold over 260,000 seats in just over a week which is a strong testament to the level of pent up demand for domestic travel”.
