Alitalia brand must be shed in order for relaunch: European Commission

European Commission reportedly has advised that the Italian Government shed the combined Alitalia brand before it is able to nationalise and relaunch the new carrier (La Repubblica, 20-Jan-2021). The Commission has reportedly rejected a proposal that the old carrier can sell its assets to the new company in a private negotiation and must launch a separate open tender to sell the assets.
