American Airlines CEO: 'We do believe that we will recover, certainly maybe not in the next year'

24 September, 2020

American Airlines CEO Doug Parker said the industry does not need a "full recovery" from the impacts of COVID-19, but rather "enough time to keep the airlines running well enough to facilitate the economic recovery that it is going to occur" (MSNBC, 23-Sep-2020). "We do believe that we will recover, certainly maybe not in the next year". He explained the furloughing of pilots and flight attendants will "dramatically slow the recovery of the economy", as these employees are "not easy to bring back into the training".
