Is the tide turning? Air freight demand slips to its slowest rate of growth since April
Latest monthly figures released by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) for global air freight markets shows that demand, measured in freight tonne kilometers (FTKs), increased by 9.2% in Sep-2017, compared to the same period a year ago, but down from 11.6% in Aug-2017. While a strong performance and significantly higher than the five-year average growth rate of 4.4%, it is the slowest pace of growth seen in five months and supports the group's suggestion that peak of the cyclical growth period may have now been passed.
