Australia looking to vaccinate 'large numbers of people very quickly' from Mar-2021

10 February, 2021

Australia's Acting Chief Medical Officer Michael Kidd, speaking at CAPA Live February 2020, stated (10-Feb-2021) Australia would be able to more broadly distribute the AstraZeneca vaccine to smaller numbers across the country due to its smaller packaging. Referring to how the government plans to distribute the COVID-19 vaccines, Mr Kidd stated: "We have experience in multi use vials", adding: "The difference with Pfizer however is the low temperature it has to be stored at". He said the government is setting up large vaccine centres in hubs across Australia and expects to vaccinate "large numbers of people very quickly, in Mar-2021 and scaling up in Apr-2021 and May-2021".
