AVIC Cabin Systems (ACS) reported (24-May-2021) the three companies within the group have created a series of hygiene-focused innovations to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic, with further products in the development stage. New products include:

  • PURE CABIN: Developed by FAAC, this is a permanent photocatalytic surface solution that the TiO2 plus metal complex to eliminate viruses, bacteria, and fungi from surfaces. No pre- or post-treatment of the surfaces is required outside the guidance on routine aircraft cleaning and there is no need for a UV light source, as the active component is triggered by normal cabin light;
  • ARCA: A galley system from AIM Altitude that introduces a new, hygienic boxed-meal system instead of set-meal trays. The concept also saves weight, and space, and is environmentally friendly;
  • VantageSOLO: A fully horizontal flat-bed for narrowbody aircraft from only a 33 inch seat pitch, created by Thompson Aero Seating. The seat provides direct aisle-access for every seat, which can be configured with either an open aisle end, a fixed privacy screen, or a full-function suite door. This offers greater social distancing, in addition to the normal privacy additions of a business class seating experience. The herringbone configuration also locates passengers away from the aisle, minimising accidental contact with passengers and crew. [more - original PR]
