BITRE: Australian international pax down 98% in Aug-2021, compared to Aug-2019

Australia's Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) reported (21-Oct-2021) the following international traffic highlights for Aug-2021:

  • Passengers: 56,330, -98.4% compared to Aug-2019;
  • Available seats: 559,014, -87.4%;
  • Cargo: 82,837 tonnes, -9.6%;
  • Flights: 4064, -76.4%;
  • Aircraft movements: 4342, -75.4%;
  • Top 5 international carriers:
    • Share of passengers carried:
      • Singapore Airlines: 20%, +11.6pp compared to Aug-2019;
      • Qatar Airways: 14.9%, +11.4pp;
      • Air New Zealand: 12.4%, +6pp;
      • Emirates: 10.8%, +3.9pp;
      • Etihad Airways: 4.7%, +1.8pp;
    • Share of cargo carried:
      • Singapore Airlines: 13.8%, -2.8pp;
      • Qantas Airways: 8.6%, -3.1pp;
      • FedEx: 8.4%, +3.1pp;
      • Emirates: 8%, +0.2pp;
      • Cathay Pacific Airways: 7.4%, +0.8pp.

LCC's AirAsia X and Scoot accounted for 1.8% of total international passenger traffic to/from Australia in Aug-2021. The LCCs share in 2019 was 14.4%. [more - original PR]
