BITRE: Australian international pax down 96.8% in May-2021, compared to May-2019

Australia's Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) reported (21-Jul-2021) the following international traffic highlights to/from Australia for May-2021:

  • Passengers: 214,246, -93.3% compared to May-2019;
  • Available seats: 816,048, -80.5%;
  • Cargo: 76,183 tonnes, -17.6%;
  • Flights: 5134, -68.4%;
  • Aircraft movements: 5318, -68.2%;
  • Top 10 international carriers:
    • Share of passengers carried:
      • Air New Zealand: 49.0%, +36.5pp year-on-year;
      • Qantas Airways: 22.6%, +19.2pp;
      • Jetstar Airways: 6.7%, +6.7pp;
      • Singapore Airlines: 5.7%, +3.8pp;
      • Qatar Airways: 3.9%, -30.4pp;
      • Emirates Airline: 1.9%, +1.4pp;
      • United Airlines: 1.3%, -3.4pp;
      • China Southern Airlines: 1.2%, -3.7pp;
      • Etihad Airways: 0.9%, +0.3pp;
      • American Airlines: 0.9%, +0.9pp;
    • Share of cargo carried:
      • Singapore Airlines: 12.9%, +2.0pp;
      • Qantas Airways: 9.7%, -0.2pp;
      • FedEx: 8.5%, -1.6pp;
