Brazil ANAC auctions 22 airports for private operation, selects CCR and Vinci Airports as winners

Brazil ANAC announced (07-Apr-2021) it raised BRL3.3 billion (USD587.9 million) through the auction of 22 airports for private operation on 07-Apr-2021 (Reuters, 08-Apr-2021). Brazil's Minister of Infrastructure Tarcisio de Freitas stated: "We had an extraordinary result in this auction, despite the fact that the COVID pandemic strongly affected all airports". ANAC selected CCR as the winner for the airports in the central block and south block of the concession auction, with CCR bidding BRL754 million (USD134.3 million) for the airports in the central block and BRL2.1 billion (USD374.1 million) for the airports in the south block. Vinci Airports won the auction for the airports in the north block with a BRL420 million (USD74.8 million) bid. The 22 airports auctioned comprise:

  • South block:
    • Curitiba Afonso Pena International Airport, Foz do Iguacu International Airport, Londrina Airport, Curitiba Bacacheri Airport, Navegantes Airport, Joinville Lauro Carneiro de Loyola Airport, Pelotas Federal Airport, Uruguaiana Ruben Berta Airport and Bage Airport;
  • Central block:
    • Goiania Santa Genoveva Airport, Palmas Airport, Teresina Senador Petronio Portella Airport, Petrolina Senador Nilo Coelho Airport, Sao Luis Marechal Cunha Machado Airport and Imperatriz Airport;
  • North block:
