Brazil considers eliminating USD18 per passenger international departure charge

4 September, 2019

Brazil's Secretary of Civil Aviation Ronei Glanzmann stated the government is studying the elimination of a USD18 fee for passengers departing on international services (G1, 01-Sep-2019). The fee is raised for the National Civil Aviation Fund used to finance airport infrastructure projects and generated BRL704.5 million (USD169 million) in 2018. The fee could be removed in Sep-2019. The measure is intended to attract new carriers to Brazil.
