Brisbane Airport 2020 international traffic down 78.2%

Brisbane Airport announced (21-Jan-2021) the following international highlights for 2020:

  • The airport handled 1.4 million international passengers for 2020, down 78.2% and five million fewer passengers year-on-year;
  • Passenger traffic started to drop in Feb-2020 and Mar-2020. From Apr-2020, international passenger traffic was down 98%;
  • At the start of 2020, the airport had 29 airlines operating to 32 international destinations. By Dec-2020, there were 11 airlines offering scheduled passenger services to 10 destinations for a total of 30 scheduled services for the week. Most passengers were carried by five airlines: Air New Zealand, Qatar Airways, Emirates, Air Niugini and Singapore Airlines;
  • With international borders essential closed and a weekly cap of 500 passengers, remaining airlines have been predominantly focused on repatriation flights and freight in 2H2020. [more - original PR]
