Canada’s Government urged to relax quarantine requirements, border restrictions

Canada‘s President Justin Trudeau stated: “Getting the vaccination numbers up above 75% across the country is going to allow for a much better posture on reopening”, adding: “Including around what we do with the US border and international borders” (Bloomberg, 28-May-2021). A Canadian advisory body requested government relax its border rules for vaccinated travellers and drop a requirement that international air passengers quarantine in a hotel when they arrive. It stated: “Given the current Canadian context, the panel recommends a strong focus on adherence to quarantine rather than modifying the hotel quarantine programme to become more like those in place in New Zealand and Australia“.
