22 February, 2021

Cathay Pacific Group chief customer and commercial officer Ronald Lam stated (17-Feb-2021) the carrier's overall demand in Jan-2021 "remained very weak", and passenger capacity declined 6% compared to Dec-2020. Cathay handled 981 passengers per day during the month, the first time this number has declined to below 1000 since Jun-2020, and passenger load factor also declined to the lowest on record at 13.3%. The carrier also expects the "coming months will be extremely challenging", as long as stringent quarantine measures continue to be in place in Hong Kong and elsewhere. [more - original PR]
