Australian Airports Association questions Qantas discounted regional airfares

Australian Airports Association (AAA) CEO Caroline Wilkie responded (20-Aug-2019) to Qantas' decision to discount fares to regional communities, stating: "We welcome any savings for regional communities that continue to struggle to access affordable airfares. However, a recent regional airfares inquiry found part of the challenge in finding real solutions for regional Australia is a lack of transparency from domestic airlines about how airfares are determined". AAA asserts that Qantas' discounted fares are misleading and have "dodged the real issue on regional airfares, putting undue pressure on regional airports while residents remain in the dark about what they're paying for when they book a flight".
