DATA SPOTLIGHT: Turkish Airlines

6 July, 2020

This year The Blue Swan Daily will feature some of the leading airlines, airports and country markets for air travel. Here, using the extensive profile insights available to CAPA - Centre for Aviation members to deliver a data snapshot, we look at Turkish Airlines, which having suspended all operations at a time during Covid-19 lockdowns, is now ramping up its activities.

Turkish Airlines had one of the largest networks in the world prior to the arrival of Covid-19 serving more destinations than any other global carrier, but across April and May its entire fleet was grounded due to travel restrictions imposed to combat its spread.

Its flights resumed in early June and are currently operating at around a third of the levels recorded at this time last year, but the airline's chairman is confident that those two levels will balance in time. İlker Aycı says "It is our firm belief that once the world overcomes the crisis, air travel will bounce back stronger than ever".
