18 July, 2018

David Neeleman, majority investor in a new US start-up carrier, stated (17-Jul-2018) that after years of airline consolidation in the US, conditions "are improving for a new generation of US airline to emerge, focused on passenger service and satisfaction". Mr Neeleman was the founder of JetBlue, and is an investor in TAP and controlling shareholder in Azul airlines. The new carrier has signed an MoU with Airbus for 60 A220s, with deliveries to commence in 2021. The interval between the order and deliveries will give the start-up "ample time to assemble a world-class management team and another winning business model". [more - original PR]
