Delta Air Lines to commence installation of hand sanitiser stations onboard aircraft from Aug-2020

27 August, 2020

Delta Air Lines reported (27-Aug-2020) it is taking the following measures to maintain safety and cleanliness onboard aircraft:

  • Up to five hand sanitiser stations to be established on Delta aircraft, depending on the aircraft size and passenger numbers. Installations will commence with Delta's Boeing 757-200 fleet from 28-Aug-2020;
  • Flight attendants wipe down high touch surfaces in lavatories during each frequency;
  • Hands free installations in lavatories, with A350s, A330-900neos, 767-400s and 757-200s installed with hands free features such as touchless faucets, flush levers and waste lids;
  • Hand washing reminders to be installed in each lavatory across all aircraft bathrooms;
  • Daily use of electrostatic sprayers before every frequency to sanitise aircraft prior to boarding. Employees also perform spot checks throughout the aircraft, and may delay the flight in order to call back the cleaning crew.

Delta Air Lines chief customer experience officer Bill Lentsch stated: "Over the past few months, our customer satisfaction scores have skyrocketed by double digits, including those for onboard lavatory cleanliness". [more - original PR]
