3 August, 2021

DHL Express announced (03-Aug-2021) an order with Eviation for 12 fully electric 'Alice eCargo' aircraft. Eviation expects to deliver the Alice electric aircraft to DHL Express in 2024. DHL plans to use the aircraft to establish an electric DHL Express network, as well as making a "pioneering step into a sustainable aviation future". The Alice eCargo aircraft will be capable of handling 1200kg of cargo out to a range of 815km. It can be operated by a single pilot and requires 30 minutes or less to charge per flight hour. Alice will operate in all environments currently serviced by piston and turbine aircraft. DHL stated the aircraft is "ideal for feeder routes and requires less investment in station infrastructure" and can be charged while loading and unloading operations occur, ensuring quick turnaround times. The first Alice all-electric aircraft is on track for its first flight later in 2021. [more - original PR]
