EMEA Global Capacity Recap – September 2018

In this week's exclusive Blue Swan Daily Infographic, we take a closer look at the growing aviation market by focussing on global capacity. In Sep-2018, the US airlines still dominate monthly capacity with American Airlines (20.3m), Delta Air Lines (18.5m), Southwest Airlines (16.1m) & United Airlines (15.1m) taking out the top 4 positions, the only non-American airline in the top 5 was Ryanair ending the month with 12.5m seats. Eurowings had the most growth globally with a massive 73.4% increase. Only the LCC alliances - Value & U-Fly increased capacity, all other alliances saw a decrease. In contrast to most other regions, LCC carriers top the capacity list in Europe with Ryanair followed by EasyJet, rounding out the top 5 were Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa & Emirates. Ethiopian Airlines was the largest carrier based in Africa coming 27th on the list.
