ENAC introduces rules against airlines charging for co-location of seats near minors or disabled passengers

ENAC announced (16-Aug-2021) the introduction of new rules, effective 15-Aug-2021, introducing “heavy” fines for airlines that fail to freely allocate seats to minors and peoples with disabilities to locate them close to their parents and/or carers. Penalties will range from EUR10,000 to EUR50,000. ENAC is also introducing an online reporting system for passengers to lodge complaints. The authority will also be conducting direct check with airlines, to determine whether they are meeting the new provisions for the protection of the disabled and minors.
