euroAtlantic Airways: Governmental 'support to TAP distorts competition'

euroAtlantic Airways CEO Eugenio Fernandes commented on the Government of Portugal's approach to assisting the aviation industry during the COVID-19 pandemic, stating: "The Executive Government claims that the aviation sector is strategic, but the sector was forgotten in the general plan to support tourism" (Dinheiro Vivo, 13-Feb-2021). He added: "Tourism has been doing an excellent work… but the aviation sector has been completely forgotten, with the exception of TAP Air Portugal". He stated the "State support to TAP Air Portugal distorts competition and it is not fair for the private side of the aviation sector".
