16 November, 2020

ACI Europe DG Oliver Jankovec said (16-Nov-2020) airports in the EU, EEA, Switzerland and the UK are bracing for an "accelerating downward trend" in passenger traffic heading into winter 2020/2021. "As things stand, passenger traffic is heading back towards another full collapse similar to the one experienced in 2Q2020, when volumes were down by 96%", Mr Jankovec continued. ACI Europe noted that passenger traffic in the rest of Europe remains "more resilient", currently down 59% year-on-year and stabilising. Airports in Russia and Turkey specifically are "clearly outperforming" other markets due to the relative dynamism of their domestic markets, the organisation concluded. [more - original PR]
