19 August, 2021

CAPA - Centre for Aviation, in a report entitled: 'European aviation: pax recovery closing in on capacity, but UK lags', stated (19-Aug-2021) total airline seat numbers in Europe reached 33.7% below 2019 levels for the week commencing 16-Aug-2021, marking the closest capacity has been to 2019 levels since the coronavirus pandemic. However, the rate of improvement is slowing with a gain of only 3.3pp over the past month. The capacity recovery is inconsistent across Europe, with non-EU markets showing the strongest recovery led by the large domestic markets in Russia and Turkey. The UK continues to lag behind the rest of the continent. Europe remains the third ranked region for capacity recovery, after North America and Latin America. [more - CAPA Analysis]
