European capacity getting closer to 2019 levels as of Aug-2021

CAPA - Centre for Aviation, in a report entitled: 'European aviation: pax recovery closing in on capacity, but UK lags', stated (19-Aug-2021) total airline seat numbers in Europe reached 33.7% below 2019 levels for the week commencing 16-Aug-2021, marking the closest capacity has been to 2019 levels since the coronavirus pandemic. However, the rate of improvement is slowing with a gain of only 3.3pp over the past month. The capacity recovery is inconsistent across Europe, with non-EU markets showing the strongest recovery led by the large domestic markets in Russia and Turkey.
