European Commission extended the deadline to conclude its investigation of IAG's acquisition of Air Europa from 05-Nov-2021 to 03-Dec-2021 (avionews.com/Reuters/Simple Flying, 22-Jul-2021). IAG confirmed it had requested an extension, to allow it to provide more evidence and documentation and support the European Commission's review process. Under the deal, IAG has proposed that Air Europa be closely integrated into Iberia. The European Commission stated in Jun-2021 that it was reviewing around 70 routes for competition concerns, including short, medium and long haul connections.
