FedEx to use autonomous aircraft for remote areas, no plans to replace pilots for large aircraft

    FedEx chairman and CEO Frederick Smith stated the airline intends to use Reliable Robotics autonomous Cessna 208 aircraft to serve “very remote and uninhabited areas” (Bloomberg, 22-Sep-2020). Mr Smith also said: “FedEx has no plans to replace its trunk aircraft fleet with autonomous aircraft” and added: “I think the prospect of large transport aircraft being flown without pilots is highly remote”.
