Finavia announced (23-Aug-2021) the following three stage plan for the opening of Helsinki-Vantaa Airport's Terminal 2 extension:
- Entrance, arrivals hall, multimodal travel centre and parking halls: 01-Dec-2021;
- New check in points and security control area: Mar-2022 to Jun-2022;
- New baggage drop facilities and Schengen area: Summer 2023;
The extension forms part of a wider EUR1 billion investment at the airport, with features including:
- Terminal area increase by 45% to more than 250,000sqm;
- Addition of 12 aerobridges;
- Luggage handling capacity increase of 50%;
- Passport control capacity increase of 50%;
- Apron renovation;
- Expansion of parking hall to include 1800 new parking spaces and 200 electric charging stations. [more - original PR]
