3 January, 2019

Flair Airlines reported (03-Jan-2019) "considerable growth" in its first full year of scheduled operations in 2018. The airline noted the following highlights:

  • Added 114 flights per week. The airline "more than doubled the number of flights per week we fly", according to president and CEO Jim Scott;
  • Doubled fleet from five to 10 aircraft;
  • Handled almost one million passengers;
  • Operated coast-to-coast from 10 Canadian cities in summer;
  • Commenced US services and added six US destinations to the winter schedule;
  • More than doubled employee headcount by recruiting more than 100 staff since relocating headquarters to Edmonton;
  • Received its first Boeing 737-800 in Dec-2018. Mr Scott said the 737-800 is the airline's "flight path to the future", commenting: "Lower fuel costs ensure we can keep our fares down and the longer range means we can fly more passengers non-stop to more distant destinations".

Flair plans to expand its fleet, network and employee base in 2019. [more - original PR]
