FlyersRights.org releases air travel social distancing and stimulus plan

24 March, 2021

FlyersRights.org released (24-Mar-2021) an air travel social distancing and stimulus plan in response to US President Joe Biden's executive order for federal agencies to explore COVID mitigation measures. The plan would require airlines to limit passenger load factors (PLFs) to 50% or 65%, with federal government purchasing a sufficient number of seats and keeping them unoccupied to enable airlines to operate at a profit generating 80% PLF. In return, the federal government would get back a percentage of seats in the future for federal government employee travel. Throughout the pandemic, airlines have kept passenger load factors around 46% to 52% while increasing the number of flights offered, according to the US Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
