FlyWestAf Algeria targets charter & tourism growth as country's first LCC

FlyWestAf, via its official website, confirmed (Aug-2021) plans to launch Algeria's first low cost carrier under FlyWestAf Algeria, offering domestic and international services. In addition to stimulating growth in the tourism sector, the carrier aims to reduce charter costs and meet growing external charter demand in the region, noting 80% of West and Central Africa's charter in 2019 was carried out by European and Middle Eastern countries. The carrier reportedly filed with Algeria's Ministry of Transport to operate passenger and cargo operations in mid Aug-2021 (Le Soir d'Algerie/ObservAlgerie/aviation24.be, 22/27-Aug-2021).
