GOAA announces new baggage system at Orlando International as part of USD2.7 billion terminal construction

    Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) announced (30-Aug-2021) the installation of a new tote baggage handling system at Orlando International Airport as part of its USD2.7 billion South Terminal C construction project. The system will feature radio frequency identification for bag tracking, significant noise reduction, capacity to reroute baggage around areas closed for maintenance, virtual elimination of baggage jams and an early bag storage facility with the capacity for approximately 1800 bags. As previously reported by CAPA, Terminal C is scheduled for completion in 1Q2022; adding 15 gates which will accommodate up to 20 aircraft and support an additional yearly capacity of 10-12 million passengers at the airport.
