Google: Find flights with lower carbon emissions

    Google VP of Travel Products Richard Holden, via the company’s official blog, announced (06-Oct-2021) the introduction of a new feature on Google Flights, providing a carbon emissions estimate for “nearly every” flight in the search results. The result will be displayed right next to the price and duration of the flight. The emissions estimates are flight-specific as well as seat-specific. Data is drawn from Google‘s participation in the Travalyst coalition, which is developing an open model for calculating carbon emissions from air travel and promoting standardisation across the travel industry using this framework.
