Hobart Airport launches terminal expansion project, phase one to be completed by Dec-2020

Hobart Airport announced (10-Apr-2019) plans for its Terminal Expansion Project (TXP). Details include:

  • TXP will see the building's footprint more than double in size with the expansion expected to be completed in three stages;
  • The initial stage is expected to cost approximately AUD100 million (USD70 million) and will be completed by Dec-2020;
  • Stage one will see the expansion of the existing departures lounge and facilities, improved airline lounges, enhanced passenger screening facilities, and the construction of a swing lounge concept, capable of providing for international processing facilities;
  • Phase three is due for completion by 2030;
  • Further phases will expand retail and F&B offerings;
  • During the construction phase, up to 120 construction workers could be required onsite at any given time;
