Hua Hin Airport to be upgraded to accommodate larger aircraft

9 February, 2021

Thailand's Deputy Transport Minister Thaworn Senneam stated Hua Hin Airport will be upgraded to accommodate larger aircraft and long haul operations by 2023 (Bangkok Post, 08-Feb-2021). Mr Thaworn requested the Department of Airports work with the public and private sector to further develop the airport and meet projected demand. He said: "Demand for air services to Hua Hin is high, as evidenced by the leap in passenger figures right before COVID-19 disrupted travel". The airport's runway will be further extended from 2100m to 3000m to accommodate aircraft operating services of 10 to 12 hours duration. It currently accommodates around 300 passengers per hour, or 860,000 p/a.
