IATA asks the Government of Argentina to reconsider 35% tax on international ticket sales

22 September, 2020

IATA country manager Argentina Maria Jose Taveira, via her personal LinkedIn account, announced (21-Sep-2020) IATA requested the Government of Argentina to reconsider the decision to tax international air tickets by 35%. IATA stated: "The new tax will reduce even more the country's attractiveness to airlines" (infobae, 21-Sep-2020). Ms Taveira stated: "This decision [to tax international bookings] could not have arrived at a worst time… aviation in Argentina has been grounded for half a year. We still don't have an official date to resume domestic and international flights and they impose another governmental tax".
