IATA CEO: Governments are more interested in taxing aviation than lowering environmental costs

IATA director general and CEO Alexandre de Juniac stated (06-Sep-2019) there are a "host of environmental taxes planned or under consideration in Europe" which makes it seem that "governments are more interested in taxing aviation than partnering with industry to make it sustainable." IATA reported the aviation industry is "working hard to ensure that the environmental costs of all travel are minimised", noting that the industry's overall net emissions will be capped from 2020 onwards.
