IATA: Chinese domestic traffic drops 50% in Feb-2021, due to local travel curbs

IATA, via its North Asia Regional Briefing for Apr-2021, reported (28-Apr-2021) domestic RPKs in China during Feb-2021 contracted by 51.2% compared with Feb-2019. This was a "significant deterioration" from late-2020 when domestic RPKs had almost reached pre-crisis levels. The fall in passenger traffic within China was driven by government requests that citizens stay at home during the traditional new year travel period to limit the spread of the coronavirus.
