Indian airlines record 86% decrease in revenue in Q1FY2020/2021

India's Minister of State for Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri reportedly informed the Rajya Sabha that Indian airlines recorded INR36.5 billion (USD495.7 million) in revenue in Q1FY2020/2021, an 85.7% year-on-year decrease, primarily attributable to the impact of coronavirus (Financial Express/Tribune India/The Print/India Today, 16/17-Sep-2020). Mr Puri said Air India recorded INR15.3 billion (USD207.8 million) in revenue during the quarter, a 78.3% decrease. He added that the number of personnel employed by Indian airlines decreased from 74,887 on 31-Mar-2020 to 69,589 on 31-Jul-2020.
