IndiGo aims to recover to 100% of pre COVID-19 domestic capacity by the end of 2021

28 July, 2021

IndiGo CEO Ronojoy Dutta, commenting on the LCC's Q1FY2021/2022 financial results, stated (27-Jul-2021) "in the near term, our primary focus remains on adding capacity so that we can get back to pre-COVID-19 levels as quickly as possible". Mr Dutta noted "currently, we are restricted to 65% [domestic] capacity deployment, but we are in continuous dialogue with the Ministry and we are hopeful that we will see a gradual relaxation of these restrictions". He reported "scheduled international operations remain challenging, and our short term focus is on increasing the capacity deployed through air bubble arrangements and charters". Mr Dutta concluded: "given the vaccination rates [in India] a reasonable scenario is that the third wave will be relatively flat and as such we hope to be at 100% of pre-COVID domestic capacity by the end the year, after which we can hope to return to normalcy on revenues".
