CAPA – Centre for Aviation, in a report entitled: ‘European aviation pays the price for its international dependency’, stated (11-Feb-2021) that a combination of a high dependence on international travel and tight travel restrictions helps to explain Europe‘s weak performance on returning capacity to the market compared to other regions. This has been exacerbated by the fragmentation of the European aviation market due to different approaches and timeframes for lockdowns and travel restrictions by different countries. This fragmentation remains a threat to the pace of recovery in 2021. However, if a more synchronised approach can be found, 2H2021 has the potential to enjoy a significant improvement from current levels of capacity and traffic. [more – CAPA Analysis]
