Israel Ministry of Health proposes strict two tier international travel scheme

28 April, 2021

Israel's Ministry of Health announced (27-Apr-2021) it has sent a "strict" strategy for international travel to the Israeli Government and recommended postponing the inbound tourism pilot by one month (until the end of Jun-2021). The international travel plan to be recommended will involve dividing countries into two groups: Level 1, where existing policies will continue, and Level 2, where existing policies will be tightened. Israeli nationals will be barred from travelling to Level 2 countries (except for special exceptions) and Israelis returning from Level 2 countries will be required to isolate, even if they are vaccinated or have recovered from COVID-19. Foreigners who are "exceptionally approved" to visit Israel from level 2 countries will need to undergo mandatory isolation in hotels. The list of countries will be updated every two weeks, based on work from the national Information and Knowledge Center. [more - original PR]
