Korean Air to raise USD3bn from new shares issuance in Mar-2021

24 January, 2021

Korean Air will increase the amount it plans to raise by issuing new shares in Mar-2021 from KRW2.5 trillion (USD2.3 billion) to KRW3.3 trillion (USD3 billion), due to increases in its stock price (Yonhap News/The Korea Herald, 22-Jan-2021). As previously reported by CAPA, the airline will utilise KRW1.8 trillion (USD1.6 billion) of the raised capital to take a controlling stake in Asiana Airlines, and will use the remaining funds to cover its debt obligations.
