LATAM Airlines Brasil to launch Boeing 787 operations in Dec-2021

13 September, 2021

LATAM Airlines Brasil announced (13-Sep-2021) plans to launch Boeing 787 operations on Sao Paulo-Madrid service in Dec-2021. The company will incorporate four 787s from its Chilean affiliate, with the first already delivered to GRU Airport Sao Paulo Guarulhos International Airport and awaiting certification, as previously reported by CAPA. The first certification flight is scheduled for 27-Sep-2021, without passengers, on the Sao Paulo-Manaus route. CEO Jerome Cadier said the decision to incorporate aircraft already used by LATAM Airlines Group will generate more efficiency for international operations. Operations director Harley Meneses added the decision will lead to a 50% cost reduction in pilot and crew training, as the company will leverage technical and cabin crew from its 777 fleet.
