Latin American lack of air connectivity 'even more severe than in other regions'

25 November, 2020

IATA regional VP The Americas Peter Cerda, speaking at the 2020 IATA AGM, stated (25-Nov-2020) the loss of air connectivity in Latin America and the Caribbean is "even more severe than in other regions, given the fact that no other viable transports exist, as the region lacks high speed rail systems and the majority of road systems are sub-par". Mr Cerda said the industry has worked "tirelessly" in the past few months to ensure that the necessary infrastructure was in place to allow for continued cargo and humanitarian flights in the region.
