Lufthansa Group airlines to offer higher quality paid short haul catering products in 2021

Lufthansa Group announced (17-Nov-2020) Lufthansa, SWISS and Austrian Airlines plan to offer a range of higher-quality paid F&B products available in economy class on short and medium haul services from spring 2021, replacing the current range of complimentary options. Lufthansa Group executive board member Christina Foerster said the new concept was made in response to customer feedback indicating that the current range of F&B items does not always meet passenger expectations, and will allow passengers to "decide what they want to eat and drink on their journey". With the new concept, the airlines are also investing in sustainability by selecting environmentally friendly products and packaging and by reducing food waste through more customised production.
