Lufthansa Hub Munich CEO Wilken Bormann reported the airline plans to upgauge aircraft operating at Munich Airport (fvw.de, 29-Jan-2019). Lufthansa will do so in order to bypass capacity constraints brought on by plans not to proceed with third runway construction, according to Mr Bormann. As previously reported by CAPA, Germany's Bavaria Coalition Government will not pursue plans for construction of a third runway during the current legislative period from 2018 to 2023.
