16 December, 2019

Malaysia's Minister of Transport (MoT) Anthony Loke reported the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) will have "more power" financially when it mergers with the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) (The Edge Markets, 13-Dec-2019). Mr Loke stated the merger will also assist CAAM in regaining Category 1 rating from the US FAA, adding: "CAAM does not have enough financial capabilities in terms of hiring people, hiring the best qualified technical personnel". He said: "They will be given more power in terms of setting fees and in the long run, they will have financial independence, and they can hire and pay according to a better rate".
